Q. What is evangelism and how can we do it?
This question must be moving around within the bounds of our mind each day as we, the messengers of Jesus, are commanded to do the work of evangelism. The reason why we have to take up this noble task can only be convinced if we have the clear conviction of why are we even doing it. When the question “why” is resolved, “how to efficiently do it” can also be resolved with the follow up actions. The work of God is fully based on volunteerism, one has to, to the core, realize its principle and then submit it to its cause.
Evangelism: euangelizesthai (bring good news) or the reward given to the messenger for good news.
Let's solve the “WHY” first?
We cannot find the term evangelism before the time of first coming since there was no good news to proclaim. Good news came through the coming of Jesus since He himself was good news for the people to listen to. The word that was within His heart was the good news, it was the word of God, whom Jesus called Father. Some may fail to justify GOOD NEWS because of their shortcomings in failing to see through the weight of the term in concern, they may partially refer to it as the salvation that comes from Jesus is a good news. Who could have possibly thought that, the good news was about the preparation of God’s kingdom to come down on this earth to be with His people, it was the beginning of Satan’s dethroning from ruling over this world. God was now able to taste victory through Jesus after several failed trials had been made in the past. Jesus was the glimpse of light over the people making darkness their companionship for 4000 long years. This light He carried was present within the word He taught to His disciples and then to many who opened their hearts to listen to. The light simultaneously spread from one heart to another and then it filled up the whole world. Satan too did not give up but kept pressing forward by making his way through spreading lies more and more using thousands of pastors in the heart of multitudes. Even though christianity is spread all across the world, the darkness overpowered them as they found lies much tastier and convenient to accommodate with. God knew exactly what was coming and what Satan would do about it therefore He made a New Covenant with His people which was for the sole purpose of the time of second coming. Since the people of God are already within the influence of Satan and his teachings, the true work of evangelism needs to find its place with the ambition to once again reignite the lost light within the hearts of hungry ones. The work of Evangelism is a life saving tool, it can only pave the right way to the lost sheep. Like how we were lost and found a savior in God’s word, we need to extend our hands to people who are on the verge of giving up their hope. We must carry this work of evangelism with a thankful heart.
How can we do the work of Evangelism effectively?
To make Evangelism effective, we need a constant reminder of why we are doing it. The reason “why” must become the basis of our firm stand and never back down even when a big storm comes towards us. We must keep progressing with genuine effort through plans and formulation. What shall i do better to reach to the people, how may i get to know about their spiritual status and many more questions shall be our constant thoughts. Evangelism is not a single day's work, it takes time , it takes a dedicated diary to note down all our methods, it demands the full engagement of our heart.
